Many cleaning roles fall under the Cleaning Services Award. Classification and ordinary hours depend on the work. Some hostel housekeeping roles may instead sit under hospitality instruments — ask which award the employer applies.
Floor rates from 1 July 2026
- National Minimum Wage: $26.44/hr
- Award/agreement-free casual: $33.05/hr
Award classification rates may sit above these floors. Confirm the exact rate in Fair Work rather than assuming the NMW is the full entitlement.
